Protect Your Bike. Enjoy Owning It.

If you're anything like me, you don't buy a motorcycle just to look at it. You want to ride it, work on it, take it places and enjoy every minute of owning it.

But modern motorcycle paint can be surprisingly easy to mark. A jacket zip against the tank, a glove thrown down after a ride, pushing the bike around the garage or a stone hitting the front fairing can leave damage that bothers you every time you look at it.

That's why I believe in protecting motorcycles properly.

At MFM Detailing, we specialise in motorcycle paint protection film (PPF) and ceramic coatings. I've seen first-hand what a difference they make, and I want my customers to understand what they're paying for — not just hear a list of product claims.

Motorcycle PPF Protection You Can Actually Appreciate

PPF is a clear protective film applied over your motorcycle's paintwork. It takes the damage that would otherwise affect the original finish.

For me, one of the biggest benefits is simply not having to worry about every little thing.

You can handle the bike, move it around, get on and off it and put your gloves or helmet on the tank without being constantly afraid of leaving another mark. You still need to look after your motorcycle, of course, but you have an extra layer of protection between everyday contact and the paint.

And it's not just about small scratches.

I've had PPF on the front of a bike take a serious stone impact. The film was damaged enough that I had to replace that section. Once the old film was removed, the paint underneath was untouched.

That's exactly what you want PPF to do. The film took the hit, and the original paint was saved.

Why I Recommend PPF

  • Protect your original paintwork from many everyday scratches, scuffs and stone chips.

  • Keep the tank looking better despite regular contact with riding gear and hands.

  • Protect vulnerable fairings from road debris and everyday wear.

  • Replace damaged film sections where practical, rather than immediately dealing with damage to the original paint.

  • Keep your options open if you decide to sell the bike or simply want to preserve its original finish.

PPF isn't indestructible, and it can't prevent every type of damage. But when the right film is installed properly, it can make a real difference.

Full Motorcycle PPF or just the front end?

If you're going to protect your bike, think about how you actually use it.

The front fairing gets hit by stones, but the tank gets touched every time you ride. Your knees rub against the sides, boots can mark the lower panels, and moving the bike around creates contact in places you might not expect.

That's why I offer coverage options beyond just the front end or a small tank kit.

Depending on the motorcycle, we can protect the tank, fairings, side panels, front end, headlights and other suitable areas. We can discuss full-bike coverage to give you protection across as much of the motorcycle as practical.

Every bike is different, so we'll explain what's possible, where film edges or joins may be visible, and what the finished result will look like before starting the job.

The aim is to protect the bike properly, not simply cover the easiest panels and call it done.

How Is Motorcycle PPF Installed?

PPF can be installed using pre-cut patterns or by applying bulk film directly to the panels.

If a suitable pre-cut pattern gives us the coverage we want, we'll usually use it. Pre-cut patterns reduce material waste and allow us to achieve a neat finish.

However, some patterns don't provide enough coverage for certain panels or leave more exposed edges than we'd like. In those cases, bulk installation can be a better option. It requires more skill, takes more time and uses more material, but it allows us to work around the shape of the panel and achieve better coverage.

Sometimes the best solution is a combination of both: pre-cut patterns on some panels and bulk installation on others.

And if bulk installation across the entire bike is what it takes to achieve the coverage we're happy with, that's what we'll do.

The priority is getting the right result for your motorcycle, not forcing every panel into a pre-cut kit.

For People Who Like a Clean Bike

PPF protects against physical damage. Ceramic coating is a different story.

If you like keeping your motorcycle clean, you'll appreciate a good ceramic coating every time you wash it.

Dirt and grime are generally easier to remove, water behaves differently on the surface, and the paint is easier to maintain. Once you've cleaned the bike, you get that satisfying finish again without having to fight the dirt as much.

It's especially worthwhile if you're someone who enjoys looking after your bike and wants to make regular cleaning easier.

Ceramic coating doesn't make paint scratch-proof, and it won't stop a stone from chipping your fairing. Its main benefits are easier maintenance, water behaviour and surface protection against certain forms of contamination.

For many owners, it's one of those things you appreciate most after you've had it for a while.
